The Angolan Investment Bank (BAI) has joined the United Nations Global Compact to adjust the institution's operations and strategies, reflecting the institution's commitment to promoting responsible business practices, said the Chairman of BAI's executive committee, Luís Lélis, announced this Tuesday.

In a note to which Kieto Economia had access, the Chairman of BAI's executive committee, Luís Lélis, stressed that the decision represents the institution's commitment to promoting responsible business practices in progress in 162 countries where the Global Compact is present, he stressed.

By joining the United Nations Global Compact, the institution will adjust its operations and strategies in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. In this way, we are committed to aligning our operations with universal principles and contributing to a fairer and more sustainable future for all, he stressed.

In this sense, the initiative aims to accelerate and scale the collective global impact of business, while maintaining the ten principles and promoting commitment to the SDGs through responsible companies and ecosystems that enable change.

The Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact derive from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
