A financial envelope of 150 million Kwanzas is how much DP World Luanda, manager of the Multipurpose Terminal of the Port of Luanda, spent on the maintenance of the buildings of School 1402, in the São Pedro da Barra neighborhood, in the municipality of Cacuaco, Kieto Economia learned from a company source and a note sent to our newsroom.

Built in 1995, this school had only two classrooms. After restructuring, the educational institution now has nine classrooms, a library, an infirmary, a storage room and six bathrooms that support students and teachers, in addition to a multi-functional game court on the school grounds.

With the rehabilitation carried out, the enclosure can now house, according to the note, with better conditions, more than 700 students aged between 5 and 12 years, who attend here from pre-school to 6th grade.

Paco Pinzon, CEO of DP World Luanda, said at the handover of the school to his community that "the company supports and will always support the commitment to education, because the future of children and young people around the world depends on it". 

For her part, the Minister of Education, Rosa Grilo, thanked DP World for its support and appealed to teachers and students to preserve the facilities now "received".


"Having the support of the companies that work in Angola to support us in such a precious sector as education naturally makes us satisfied. Because the conditions in which our students learn are fundamental for the education we provide to go further and prepare them for a future with opportunities", stressed the minister.

The São Pedro da Barra School welcomes children from the municipality of Cacuaco and others from the municipality of Cazenga, and also from the area known as Farol das Lagostas, in the coastal area. It also receives orphaned children who are referred by the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU) and the National Children's Institute (INAC).
