Port Company of Soyo-EP closes 2023 with positive results.
The board of directors, led by Fernando Dias, declared net profits of 1,475 million Kwanzas. But the results are not the only balance sheet item that registered growth, as the company's total assets also grew by 21% to 18,155 million Kz.
The Port Company of Soyo-EP (EPS-EP) closed the 2023 financial year with a net profit of 1,475 million Kwanzas, which represents a considerable recovery compared to the accounts of the previous period, according to the port entity's Report and Accounts, published by the Institute for the Management of State Assets and Participations (IGAPE).
With this positive record in the balance sheet, the company led by Fernando Dias proceeded to distribute dividends to the State shareholder.
The results achieved by EPS-EP in 2023 are, among others, the increase in ship traffic by 9%, the increase in the movement of goods by 7% and the appreciation of the dollar against the Kwanza, in addition to the careful management of the company's resources by the management.
“In the year in question, the company obtained a pre-tax profit of 1,584 billion Kwanzas, which had a positive impact on its net profit of 1,475 billion Kwanzas. These are very satisfactory results compared to the previous period, despite the constraints of the national and global context”, highlighted Fernando Dias, in his message attached to the Annual Report and Accounts.
Also in 2023, EPS-EP., as a result of the management carried out by its board of directors, received a positive rating from the external auditors, who awarded the entity the ‘No Reservations’ seal for its accounts.
“With this in mind, we have the honour of inviting and encouraging everyone to continue with the same dynamic, aiming for the Port of Soyo to become increasingly prosperous and maintain the proactive attitude that characterizes it, in the best interests of the national economy, the working community and their families, whose income is ensured by the efficient operation of this company”, concluded the manager.
The social side of EPS-EP
The actions of this public company have not lacked support for communities, through its social responsibility programme. In other words, from January to December 2026, Empresa Portuária do Soyo, EP. As part of its contribution to the quality of life of the Society and local community in which it operates, it has carried out several activities, with emphasis on Support for the São Salvador do Zaire Football Team, which fortunately won the Second Division National Championship and consequently moved up to the First Division Championship-Girabola 2023/2024; Sponsorship of the Provincial Journalism Award in Zaire;
Also among the social responsibility actions, the Support for the Church in the Municipality of Soyo, activities for the Children's Day 1-16 June 2023 in the municipalities of Nóqui and Mbanza Congo, in addition to the purchase of tickets for final year students from Soyo-Zaire to China and vice versa.
