The Banking in Analysis study by Deloitte, referring to the year 2023, shows that the country had a decrease in revenue from foreign operations.
In a note to which Kieto Economia had access, José Barata, states that “the banking sector is faced with a challenging scenario, highlighted by the sharp reduction in revenues from foreign operations", it reads.
However, there was little return in terms of investments in public debt securities and losses in the credit portfolio. And, to reverse the situation, banking requires an adaptation of its business models and strategies.
