The milestone, not reached since May 2016, was achieved "thanks" to a market capitalization of over 7.5 billion euros.
Shares in Banco Comercial Português (BCP) have risen 7.6% again since the beginning of the year, thus boosting the bank's market capitalization to over 7.5 billion euros, equivalent to 6 trillion and 590 billion kwanzas.
The shares began Monday's session up 0.80%, to 50.26 cents. BCP's performance on the stock exchange is reflected in an accumulated return of 7.6%, which allowed the institution to reinforce its position as one of the main listed companies on the Portuguese market, placing the bank in second place among the companies on the Lisbon Stock Exchange Reference Index (PSI) in terms of appreciation in 2025.
Only Galp Energia, with a gain of 8.3%, surpasses BCP in this regard, highlighting the robustness of the financial and energy sector in the national stock market panorama.
Meanwhile, the performance of BCP shares on Euronext Lisbon has been marked by an upward trend that began particularly at the start of 2023.
