The world's largest hotel chain, Hilton, is expected to enter the Angolan market as a result of a partnership with the Veleiro Group, according to a press release sent to the newsroom of Kieto Economia.
The signing of the partnership agreement is expected to take place this Tuesday, 23rd, and will be signed by the Vice President of the Hilton Hotel Network, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Veleiro Group, Pedro Godinho.
The partnership foresees, according to the note, the management and branding of a 5-star hotel with 306 rooms that will guarantee 1900 jobs and to be built in the space of the Jango Veleiro Restaurant.
The Hotel to be built under this partnership is an investment of approximately USD 150 million and its construction is planned for a period of 4 years, with financing guaranteed by international banks.
This contract also provides for the management of the Futila Sea Breeze Project, a hotel unit that belongs to the Veleiro Group, built in Cabinda 5 years ago, consisting of 11 buildings and 280 apartments already completed.
The agreement puts an end to the Hilton Group's attempt to enter the Angolan market for several years. In 2021, in Washington DC, at the business forum organized by AmCham-Angola and chaired by His Excellency President João Lourenço, the Sailing Group was contacted by Hilton, the largest hotel chain in the world and of American origin, saying that they had been trying for several years to enter the Angolan market, but without success.
