The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and his counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, signed, this Friday, the 17th, cooperation and investment contracts worth a total of 430 million euros, equivalent to 405 billion kwanzas, to benefit the water, irrigation, meteorology and health sectors, among others.

During his speech at the Angola-France Business Forum, which brings together businesspeople and investors from both countries. The head of state estimated that the Angolan economy will grow by over 4% in 2024 and that the non-oil sector will grow by close to 5% this year.

“The world is currently experiencing a decisive moment to redefine the paradigms of economic growth and international cooperation”, he stressed. In this context, France is “a crucial strategic partner to support Angola on its path to economic diversification”, while Angola “offers unique investment opportunities”, highlighting its abundant natural resources and strategic location for access to regional and global markets.

He also said that the partnership not only with France but, in general, with the European Union “is increasingly relevant”, giving as an example the Global Gateway initiative that aims to improve connectivity and infrastructure, as well as the Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreement.
