Builders advocate reduction of VAT for the acquisition of materials.

At the beginning of the week, the measures to be implemented by the government in 2025 were presented. Among them is the need for ANIESA and AGT to work on combating fake manufacturers in the sector.

The Association of Construction Materials Industries (AIMC) argued this Monday, the 6th, that the government should adopt effective control policies against fake manufacturers, as well as the reduction of a Value Added Tax (VAT) rate for the acquisition of construction materials.

On the sidelines of the meeting held with the national Economic Team and, headed by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, with members of the Association of Construction Materials Industries of Angola (AIMCA), the Association of Cement Industries of Angola (AICA) and the National Association of Timber Industries of Angola (ANIMA). The operators presented, as a proposal, measures that should be implemented by the Executive to strengthen the sector.

Among the measures, the need for ANIESA and AGT to be more active in identifying and closing down units that are supposedly industrial, but which are in fact nothing more than mere warehouses; and also the adoption of a lower Value Added Tax (VAT) rate for obtaining construction materials.

Measures also suggested were improving the competitiveness of real industrialists in relation to those considered to be fake industrialists, as well as reducing the costs of self-construction.

In turn, businessman Luís Diogo, representing AIMC, presented a series of proposals that aim to boost the industries of the Viana Industrial Park and the country in general, which, according to him, have production levels of around 20 to 30 percent of capacity. One consequence of creating this entire environment, in Luís Diogo's view, is the production of essential goods at the cheapest cost on the market.

Meanwhile, the minister visited the PDIV factories, with particular emphasis on FERPINTA and EXTRULIDER, as well as Fabrimetal.
