Angolan embassy accuses journalist Luzia Moniz of political activism against JLo.

The Angolan embassy in Portugal refused to participate in the official ceremony to celebrate Africa Day, justifying this decision by having “found that citizen Luzia Moniz remains on the list of guests” for the aforementioned celebration.

In a verbal note dated 27 May, addressed to all African embassies accredited in Portugal, Maria de Jesus dos Reis Ferreira, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Angola to the Portuguese Republic, recalls that, in a meeting held in March, “we opposed the inclusion in the guest list of Dr. Luzia Moniz, a Portuguese-Angolan citizen, alleging that she is active against the highest judiciary and Government of the Republic of Angola”.

This is the height of arrogance and political intolerance of a government that claims to be democrat and respectful of freedom of expression! Ridiculous but very serious.

The Embassy of Angola regrets this procedure, which violates the principle of promoting Unity, Solidarity and Cohesion among States provided for in the constitutive act of the African Union (AU).

Therefore, under guidance from the Capital (Luanda), the Embassy of Angola will not participate in the Official Africa Day celebration ceremony which will take place on the 29th of the current year, at the Lisbon Marriot Hotel.

The Embassy of the Republic of Angola in the Portuguese Republic takes this opportunity to reiterate to all the Embassies of the African Group accredited in the Portuguese Republic, the assurances of its high consideration.
